I can’t believe these attitudes still exist.

Up until recently I have never been what some would call “environmentally conscious.” However, over the last year since moving into my own place this has certainly begun to change. It has been gradual but I’ve started investing - yes, investing in more natural, environmentally friendly products. From bamboo kitchen wear, to organic foods, to natural household cleaners I’ve experimented and grown to love (I mean cannot live without - love) some of my new finds.
As I am also beginning to dip my toes into yoga I’ve been on the hunt for budget friendly, natural yoga accessories and have just stumbled across the IAM. Yoga Bag. As a student I can admit it is definitely on the steep end of my budget but their mission at IAM. and the realization that this is really a one time investment (I mean, how many yoga bags does one girl need?) has certainly peeked my interest!
Interested? Take a peek at their video and see the amazing things IAM. is doing to support the women of Guatemala.
The lower house of the Russian Parliament on Friday overwhelmingly approved a measure to ban “gay propaganda” in the country. The bill must be approved two more times and signed by the president before it becomes law, but it has been widely endorsed and its momentum is discouraging.
“We are deeply concerned by this draft legislation,” said State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, according to the AFP. “You know how strongly we feel about LGBT rights around the world, how strongly the secretary of state personally feels that nobody should be discriminated against for who they love.”
The so-called gay propaganda bill is a national version of one that has already been adopted by the city of St. Petersburg. Members of the State Duma voted 388 to 1 in favor of the bill, with one abstention, the Associated Press reports. The legislation must go through two more approvals and be signed by President Vladimir Putin in order to become law. Language in the bill denounces “mass media and public events that propagate homosexuality as normal behavior” and says minors cannot think critically and objectively about such information.
Oh boy. We’re in for a fight with this one.
We love this letter from Sadie, an 11-year old trans child. In the letter, Sadie writes, “It would be a better world if everyone knew that transgender people have the same hopes and dreams as everyone else… It really isn’t that hard to like transgender people because we are like everyone else.”

This past October CBC WKTB News anchor Jennifer Livingston received an e-mail from a casual viewer which read;
“Hi Jennifer,
it’s unusual that I see your morning show, but I did so for a very short time today. I was surprised indeed to witness that your physical condition hasn’t improved for many years. Surely you don’t consider yourself a suitable example for this community’s young people, girls in particular. Obesity is one of the worst choices a person can make and one of the most dangerous habits to maintain. I leave you this note hoping that you’ll reconsider your responsibility as a local public personality to present and promote a healthy lifestyle.”
This was her response and what a response it was; diplomatic but right on point. This man truly felt validated in telling her how she must “consider herself” and in such, it is empowering to witness her resilience. Regardless of her size, she seems to be quite the example not only for the children within her community but worldwide.
